Kentucky’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation Interpreters attended a Deaf-Blind Immersion Training in North Carolina in February. Six of those attending were EKU employees, alumni, or students who provide statewide interpreting services for D/HH consumers/clients of Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Anna Beard, 2014 EKU graduate, fell in love with American Sign Language (ASL) while in high school. Beard’s boyfriend at the time, now husband, Wade, has a younger brother who is deaf and the whole family used ASL to communicate with him. “I realized that I was part of this family and I should probably learn how to sign,” said Beard.

An Open House held on October 3, 2019 was heavily attended by students interested in applying to the Interpreter Education Program. This EKU nationally accredited program accepts applications in the spring of even numbered years.
