ASLIE Chair Search

Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for Chair of the American Sign Language and Interpreter Education Department to begin August, 2018. Tenure and rank are negotiable depending on experience and qualifications. A doctoral degree from a regionally accredited university is preferred; an ABD from such a program is the minimum requirement.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a record of effective teaching and research, budget management, and familiarity with HR policies and procedures. A deep knowledge of Deaf culture, fluency in ASL (certified by ASLTA and/or RID), a strong commitment to diversity, and proven leadership in a bilingual bicultural educational setting are essential. Experience and skill in identifying and writing applications for grants, developing collaborative internal and external partnerships, and recruiting/retaining faculty and students are highly desirable.


The ASLIE Department includes 24 faculty and staff and offers the B.S. in ASL-English Interpretation, the B.A. in Deaf Studies, and a minor in ASL Studies. For more information visit http://aslie.eku.edu.
